Who We Are

Welcome to the Rural Empowerment, Advocacy, and Leadership (REAL) Project. Our team is dedicated to promoting a healthier future for the City of Atwater. Our program is committed to addressing the unique challenges and needs of those who live in rural areas in their journey towards tobacco-free lives.

The Rural Empowerment, Advocacy, and Leadership (REAL) Project is a program of the California Health Collaborative (CHC). CHC is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the health needs of Californians with a special emphasis on underserved communities with limited access to resources or who face barriers related to culture, language, income, education, gender, geography or immigration status. CHC has many different programs in areas of mental health, health services, youth development, tobacco prevention, and more. OUR GOALS

  1. Through targeted initiatives, education, and community engagement, we aim to empower individuals and families with the knowledge and resources needed to break free from the grip of tobacco addiction.

  2. With a strong emphasis on cultural sensitivity and understanding, we strive to create a supportive environment where residents can access cessation services, learn about the dangers of tobacco use, and discover effective strategies for prevention.

  3. With support from the community and local decision-makers, our goal is to expand smoke-free environments by promoting policies, such as smoke-free parks and smoke-free multi-unit housing ordinances.

  4. At the REAL Project, we firmly believe that every member of the community deserves the opportunity to live a smoke-free and healthier life. Join us in our mission to reduce tobacco consumption, improve overall well-being, and build a vibrant, tobacco-free future for all. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the health and happiness of our community.
